Dow Chemical To Sponsor Olympics Through '20 11-09-2010

The Dow Chemical Co. held Olympic flag-raising ceremonies at its sites throughout the world on Tuesday to commemorate the company's newly announced Worldwide Sponsorship with the Olympics.
In July, the International Olympic Committee announced Dow had become an official Worldwide Olympic Partner as part of The Olympic Partners Program.
As the official Chemistry Company of the Olympic Movement, Dow will partner with the IOC and National Olympic Committees through 2020.
Gold medalist swimmer and Michigan native Peter Vanderkaay raised the new Dow-Olympic flag at the company’s headquarters in Midland.
"We look forward to joining with our employees and communities around the world in our own opening ceremonies to raise Olympic flags above our sites, signifying an exciting next step in Dow's relationship with the Olympics," said George Hamilton, vice president of Dow Olympic Operations in a news release.
Over the course of the sponsorship, Dow expects access to more than $150 billion in new infrastructure spending generating incremental sales of $1 billion.
More than 30 Dow businesses sell into Olympics-related infrastructure markets. Product examples related to the market include insulating materials, heat transfer fluids, architectural and industrial coatings, electrification and power insulation and plastics.
The next Olympics are the 2012 summer games in London and the 2014 winter games in Sochi, Russia.
