Radio Stations Make Switch To Christmas Tunes 11-09-2010

It's beginning to sound a lot like Christmas on the radio in Mid-Michigan.
At least one area radio station is now "wall to wall" Christmas music, and other stations will soon follow.
Holiday favorites are already playing on 104.1 FM WSAG The Bay radio station, but Thanksgiving is still weeks away so why the holly jolly stuff now?
“Bah humbug,” responds radio DJ Kevin Profitt. “It's happy and it's cheery; how can you argue with Christmas?”
The jingle of the bells all the way is all about the holiday, but so is the jingle in the cash register.
“It's become the new norm with the holidays being pushed forward,” said Profitt. “Black Friday is coming earlier this year. The election season was brutal, and they want a little happiness.”
WHNN Radio also plays wall to wall holiday music, and while they won't give TV5 an exact day as to when they’ll switch over to all-holiday music all the time, they said they’d start playing Christmas jingles about the same time the public begins shopping for Thanksgiving dinner.
“People love Christmas music, it's part of the ratings game a lot of stations play,” said WHNN’s Scott Stine. “It gets us in a lot of retail stores and people want to feel good.”
Ready or not, the Christmas music is on its way and before long, all of us will be rocking around the Christmas tree.
