Ban On Athletic Booster Club Signs To Be Lifted 11-15-2010

GENESEE COUNTY, Mich. -- The Mount Morris Planning Commission voted Monday night to change the language in the city ordinance to allow signs supporting local athletes.
Parents were angry about the ordinance that forced residents to remove the booster lawn signs or face a fine and jail time.
After TV5 brought attention to this issue late last month, the Mt. Morris City Council voted unanimously to suspend enforcement of its sign ordinance.
Before voting to ditch the ordinance, violators were subjected to a $500 fine and the possibility of 90 days in jail.
The city council is expected to meet next Monday to vote on the new sign ordinance.
