Firefighters Reach Tentative Agreement With Flint 11-17-2010

The union representing more than 100 firefighters in Flint has reached a tentative deal with the city.
The deal includes nearly 10 percent in concessions, but according to published reports, it will not include cuts to wages.
The concessions would, however, increase employee contributions to health care and retirement benefits, trim vacation hours and limit the employee food allowance.
The plan comes just days before Mayor Dayne Walling’s Friday deadline. The mayor advised the union to make concessions or face layoffs as the city tries to balance its budget.
Union members will vote on the proposed deal at the end of the month.
