Â?Ban The Felon BoxÂ? Decision Delayed By Board 11-17-2010

People in Saginaw County who have been convicted of a felony will still have to check the box indicating that when they apply for a job with the local government.
Members of the county Board of Commission have been mulling over a proposal to "ban the box" on county job applications.
But they've decided to hold off on making that decision for at least another month.
According to published reports, members of the board used a "commissioner's privilege" during Tuesday night's meeting and said they wanted more time to study a new state law that prohibits felons from holding an elected office or from being hired to work in a public position.
The board will meet again next month and will revisit the issue.
Meanwhile, the subcommittee on labor relations supports removing the question on the application, but agrees a background check must be complete before an applicant receives a final job offer.
