Man Rescued After Jump From Veterans Bridge 11-18-2010

A 26-year-old man who jumped off Veterans Memorial Bridge Wednesday was rescued by Bay City police and firefighters.
Police said they received the 911 call around 4:30 p.m. A witness who was driving over the bridge at the time told officers she saw the man climb over the bridge guarding.
Officers arrived at the scene and threw a buoyant emergency rope to the man. When the man had tied the rope to himself, officers were able to pull him to the seawall on the westside of the Saginaw River, police said.
Once at the seawall, swimmers from the Bay City Fire Department entered the water to assist him.
Police said the man was later pulled into a boat that had been launched by the Bay City Fire Department.
The Bay City resident was transported by ambulance to Bay Regional Medical Center.
