Deal Reached To Help Stop Midland Street Brawls 11-18-2010

The Bay City Police chief confirmed on Thursday that there was a meeting between the city and the Midland Street Business Association.
The two groups agreed that the police department will provide two officers to patrol the Midland Street Business District from 11 p.m. Friday nights until 3 a.m. Saturday, and 11 p.m. Saturday night until 3 a.m. Sunday.
Officials said the plan will cost $391 in overtime and benefits per night. The city said it will pay for Friday night and the Midland Street Business Association will pay for Saturday night.
Authorities said they will carry out this plan through the holidays and they’ll meet again in January to evaluate its effectiveness.
The move comes just days after a second fight broke out over the weekend in the popular nightclub district. A video taken of the first fight showed a large crowd gathered as several people brawled.
