Police To Auction Off Evidence Room Contents 11-30-2010

Saginaw police say you can fight the war on drugs and get some Christmas shopping done at the same time.
So far, police said the sale of seized items on eBay has generated more than $50,000 for the department.
And there's more evidence room “merchandise” that will soon be available for sale online.
“The Saginaw Police Department auctions things you never would think a police department would have,” said evidence room manager Angela Howie.
Howie took TV5 deep into the evidence room, where the spoils of the war on drugs were about to be sold to the public on eBay at bargain-basement prices.
“Here's a brand new pair of Coach shoes,” said Howie. “[They will] probably fetch a pretty penny and you'll pay less than retail for a new product. We have other brand name clothing with the tags still on them. [Here’s] a brand new leather vest with the tags [on it]. All of this through forfeiture as declared by a judge.”
TV5 wanted to know who buys all of this stuff that once belonged to the bad guys. “We actually have a lot of local customers who are repeat customers to the city of Saginaw eBay store,” said Howie.
The city has five locations that are stacked to the ceiling and ready for sale on e-Bay, just in time for the holidays. Howie said their sale is expected to bring the department tens of thousands of dollars.
Howie also said if you don't find what you want on line after viewing TV5’s video story, don't worry; it will be there soon.
