I-675 Reopened After Crews Clear 16 Crashes 12-01-2010

Two multi-car accidents forced police to shut down southbound I-675 from Tittabawassee Road to the I-75 junction. The road has since reopened to traffic.
Saginaw County authorities believe icy conditions on the highway led to the Wednesday morning crashes.
Saginaw County Dispatch Director Tom McIntyre told the Saginaw News that 911 responded to 16 crashes, most of them at different spots along I-675.
"[I was] going about 45 mph and cars are passing me,” said crash victim Jill Wendzick. “The back tail of my car just started spinning and I ended up doing a circle and hitting the middle of the wall. Not good."
It's unknown if anyone was seriously hurt in the accidents, but radio reports indicate several ambulances were seen leaving the crash scenes.
Authorities called in de-icing trucks to put down a layer of salt on the road.
"The roads were OK because I drove cautiously, [but] there were patchy spots,” said commuter Melinda Woods.
Wendzick had some advice for drivers getting their “snow legs” underneath them this winter. “Slow down and take your time,” Wendzick said.
