Fire Destroys Storage Facility In Flint Township 12-02-2010

Fire crews were called a large fire at McKensie Crushing in Flint Township Thursday afternoon.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze at the concrete crushing company within a few hours.
The facility is on Torrey Road, near Bristol Road. Motorists on Interstate 75 phoned TV5 to report seeing smoke from nearly a mile away.
A large storage structure that processes and crushes concrete blocks from the freeway suffered extensive damage in the blaze.
Fire investigators spent the afternoon trying to determine how the fire started.
Flint Township Fire Chief John Ringwelski said it took emergency crews from 3 cities to finally get the intense blaze under control.
No injuries were reported. The owners of the company did not want to comment on the fire.
