Saginaw Names First Ever Public Safety Manager 12-06-2010

It is official: Saginaw's new assistant city manager for public safety is Phillip Ludos.
Ludos is currently the public safety director in Greenacres, Fla., and will begin his Saginaw duties Jan. 10.
Ludos has had previous stints at several law enforcement agencies in Michigan.
"I am absolutely looking forward to coming back to the state of Michigan and to the city of Saginaw," Ludos said. "And hopefully lending any talents I have to making it a better city."
During Monday’s City Council meeting, City Manager Darnell Earley again pointed to savings in the budget as part of his reasons for seeking to fill the position.
The public safety director largely is tasked with reducing the police and fire departments' $25 million-a-year budgets.
This new position of assistant city manager/public safety director pays $88,000 to $101,000 per year.
The other finalist for the position, Victor C.M. Lauria, assistant chief of police in Novi, removed his name from the running last week.
