The Bay City Commission is expected to appoint a candidate Monday evening to complete the year left in former Mayors Charles Brunners term.
Ten people are vying for the spot to represent Bay City as mayor for the next 11 months.
Brunner stepped down on Nov. 30 to prepare for his 96th District State House seat.
Kathleen Newshamn, Chad Sibley, Michael Buda, James Tromba Jr., Hratch Basmadjiam, Joshua Novak, Tim Rex, Christopher Shannon, Ralph Trepowski II and Marie Kurzer are the ones seeking Bay City's mayor seat
Council members will also consider a recommendation from City Manager Robert Belleman to ban beer and wine sales on Sundays from 7 a.m. until noon. Last week, Sunday morning liquor sales became legal in Michigan -- but it could be weeks before bars, restaurants and stores get the required permits.
