First Warn 5 Forecast: Winter Storm Warning 12-12-2010

Snow began around 3-am, after a little rain as the precipitation began. By daybreak, a couple of inches was on the ground. Here's what the National Weather Service office in Detroit is saying:
.A STRONG LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL TRACK THROUGH THE SOUTHERN GREAT LAKES TODAY....WITH THE HEAVIEST SNOW EXPECTED NORTH OF THE I 69 CORRIDOR THROUGH MIDDAY. STEADY SNOW...OCCASIONALLY HEAVY...WILL THEN DEVELOP ACROSS THE ENTIRE AREA THIS AFTERNOON AND PERSIST INTO THE EVENING BEFORE TAPERING OFF OVERNIGHT IN MOST AREAS. LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL THEN BRING ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATIONS FOR PARTS OF THE THUMB OVERNIGHT INTO MONDAY MORNING.
OVERALL...TOTAL SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS THROUGH TONIGHT WILL BE 8 TO 12 INCHES ACROSS THE THUMB...5 TO 9 INCHES ACROSS THE SAGINAW VALLEY...4 TO 8 INCHES NORTH OF M-59 AND 3 TO 6 INCHES SOUTH TO THE OHIO BORDER. IN ADDITION...NORTH WINDS WILL INCREASE LATE TODAY TO 25 TO 30 MPH AND WILL CAUSE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW.
