Cracked Bridge Led To Overnight Closure Of I-75 12-15-2010

Emergency bridge work closed northbound Interstate 75 at Carpenter Road in Genesee County for several hours Wednesday night through Thursday morning.
Crews had to close the roadway to fix a support beam in the overpass that was likely damaged by a high-load vehicle.
The Michigan Department of Transportation diverted drivers heading north on I-75 to I-69 east, then to northbound I-475, and back to I-75.
MDOT initially said the highway wouldn’t be reopened until 4 p.m. Thursday, but Genesee County Central Dispatch confirmed traffic began moving again sometime after 6 a.m.
Carpenter Road remains closed in the area. A detour route of Jennings Road, Coldwater Road and Linden Road has been posted.
