Police Reports Detail Teacher-Student Sex Case 12-20-2010

Just days after a former Freeland teacher was sentenced to serve four to 15 years in prison for sex crimes involving a student, the Saginaw News is reporting new details about the case.
Marcie L. Rousseau was sentenced Thursday in Saginaw County Circuit Judge William A. Crane's courtroom.
Rousseau, 34, pleaded guilty in November to 21 criminal sexual conduct charges she faced in Saginaw County. The mother of two had already pleaded guilty to three similar charges in Midland County.
She received the same four to 15 year prison sentence in Midland County, but both sentences will be served concurrently.

Rousseau was also ordered to register as a sex offender after her prison sentence.
According to court documents obtained by TV5, sexual incidents between the teacher and a 16-year-old male student occurred at her home, the teen's home, at area hotels and in her two vehicles.
An investigative report by the Saginaw News sheds light on several details of the trysts between teacher and student.
The newspaper obtained 109 pages of documents detailing the findings of investigators working the case.
Among those are that police reports show the former Freeland High School assistant principal, J. Barry Weldon Jr., of being “hostile” and “very uncooperative” with investigators probing claims that Rousseau had sex with a male student.
Weldon, 37, resigned from his position this year. Police reported early in their investigation that Weldon was planning on being with Rousseau once their divorces were finalized. On two occasions, police spoke with students who said they witnessed Rousseau and Weldon together in her classroom after hours, with the door closed.
The Saginaw News findings indicate that early in the investigation, police found the 16-year-old male victim very protective of Rousseau in the hopes of striking a deal with authorities to allow the teacher to resign, as opposed to facing criminal charges. TV5 also obtained court documents outlining the testimony of the victim.
That victim claimed in court papers that he and Rousseau met for sex 100 times between May 2009 and February 2010. The Saginaw News also reported a 2006 Freeland High graduate told authorities he had sex with Rousseau during his senior year.
That student was 18 during the encounters, and it is not illegal for a teacher to have consensual sex with an 18-year-old.
The Saginaw New also found that another male student told investigators that Rousseau wrote a paper for him and that she named him “Sexy Stud 21” on her cell phone contact list. That student said the English teacher sent him text messages saying, “Good night sexy.”
Digging deeper into the documents showed that police talked with another student who claimed Rousseau “was always flirting with jocks” at school. The Saginaw News reported that same student told police that if a male pupil needed a pencil, Rousseau would put one in her pocket and make the student get it out of her pocket.
