Ex-Child Care Manager Arraigned In Sex Case 12-27-2010

A former night manager at Whaley Children's Center in Flint was arraigned Monday on numerous counts of criminal sexual conduct involving a teenager at the facility.
Martin Everett Court, 47, of Chesaning, faces six felony counts for incidents allegedly involving a 15-year-old girl who was a resident at Whaley.
The incidents occurred in April, May, and June of this year, prosecutors said. Published reports said Court quit his job at Whaley in the summer.
Criminal sexual conduct in the first degree is punishable by up to a life sentence in prison.
Jim Murdock, president and CEO of Whaley Children’s Center, recently issued this statement regarding the situation:
"Whaley Children's Center has been conducting an investigation, in full cooperation with the appropriate authorities and agencies, regarding allegations of abuse of a former resident by a former employee at the center.
The agency provides residential treatment services to abused and neglected children and indicates that every effort is being made with the investigating agencies to determine the absolute accuracy of the allegations.
Since this is an on-going and open investigation, no details are being made available in the interest of preserving the rights and protecting the confidentiality of all the parties concerned."
