6 Detained After Fight At Local Basketball Game 1-06-2011

It was supposed to be a basketball showdown between Saginaw High and Arthur Hill at Saginaw Valley State University in the Ryder Center on Wednesday, but a melee between several people in the fourth quarter is what most will remember.
WNEM TV5 cameras were rolling when the action between the rival high schools stopped on the court and escalated in the crowd.
The gym was filled with approximately 3,500 fans when the fight broke out in the concourse area with less than 3 minutes to go in the game. At one point, our video shows one of the brawlers picking up a chair to use as a weapon.
SVSU campus police told WNEM TV5 two men, ages 17 and 21, were arrested and four minors were released to their parents' custody.
Later on Thursday, TV5 learned three students were suspended for their involvement.
No serious injuries occurred in the brawl, SVSU Spokesman J.J. Boehm said.
Saginaw High defeated Arthur Hill 80-58.
The two teams are scheduled to meet again at SVSU on Jan. 22, but officials say its too early to determine if the fight will affect that event.
The incident remains under police investigation.
