The Saginaw County Sheriffs Office hoped a Friday news conference would help spread the word of serious problem the county is currently facing.
The sheriff said there's a thief on the loose, resulting in dozens of larceny cases and 35 burglaries around Saginaw County in the last three months.
Sheriff William L. Federspiel said 70 larceny cases have reported to his office since October. The larcenies included residence, non-residence, vehicle and property in vehicle thefts.
"We think there are the same group, or groups of people, who are targeting all the communities in question, said Saginaw County Sheriff Bill Federspiel. Some of the people who targeted businesses in Chesaning are doing the same thing in Richland, same thing in Merrill."
The western part of the county seems to be the target. Areas like Swan Creek, St. Charles and Merrill are being hit up for hot ticket items like the electronics Santa dropped at your house during the holidays.
Police said they believe the thieves are traveling in packs.
"We believe there is some coordination going on and they're able to travel great distances, said Federspiel. Theyre traveling north, south, east and west. Were just looking for some help from the public."
The sheriff also wants to encourage more citizens to report any suspicious behavior that they see to 911.
Most of the larcenies remain under investigation.
