First Warn 5 Forecast: Lake Effect Warning 1-08-2011

A lake effect snow warning is in effect until 1-am Sunday for Huron and Sanilac county as the wind direction (NNW 6-10) is coming right off the water. Some shoreline areas saw 8" overnight, with more expected today. In the snow bursts, visibility will be reduced. Meanwhile, our of the snow bands, the sun will peak through the clouds at times.
We'll see cold nights for the first part of the week, and daytime highs will be normal.

.COLD AIR MOVING ACROSS THE WARM LAKE WILL RESULT IN HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS OVER EASTERN PORTIONS OF THE THUMB...DOWNWIND OF LAKE HURON. AS NORTHERLY WINDS DEVELOP ACROSS THE REGION...SNOW SQUALLS WILL BE DRAWN ONSHORE AND WILL BE HEAVY AT TIMES.
SNOWFALL RATES OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR WILL BE POSSIBLE. WINDS WILL SLOWLY SHIFT TO THE NORTHWEST THIS EVENING WHICH WILL FOCUS THE REMAINING SNOW SHOWERS ACROSS EXTREME EASTERN PORTIONS OF HURON COUNTY AND EVENTUALLY SHIFTING OFFSHORE TONIGHT
