First Warn 5 Forecast: More Lake Effect 1-08-2011

The lake effect snow warning for Huron and Sanilac countgies will continue until 1-am Sunday, with additional accumulations on top of the several inches that's fallen in the Thumb. Some areas have had 8" or more.
In the upcoming week, no storms but some snow flurries and snow showers...with normal day time highs but the overnight lows will be colder than typical for this time of year.
BANDS OF HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE SOUTH THROUGH THE AREA THIS EVENING...WITH THE HEAVIEST ACTIVITY MOVING THROUGH EASTERN HURON COUNTY AND CENTRAL AND EASTERN SANILAC COUNTY DURING THE NEXT FEW HOURS.
THE SNOW SHOWERS WILL IMPACT AREAS ALONG AND EAST OF M 53 AND M 19 BETWEEN 630 PM AND 9 PM EST. LOCAL SNOWFALL RATES OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR WILL OCCUR DURING THIS TIME FRAME. TOTAL SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 4 TO 7 INCHES ARE EXPECTED...WITH LOCAL AMOUNTS OF 8 TO 12 INCHES EXPECTED FOR FAR NORTHERN HURON COUNTY.
* VISIBILITIES WILL OCCASIONALLY DROP TO A FEW HUNDRED FEET WITH LOCALIZED NEAR WHITEOUT CONDITIONS IN THE HEAVIEST SNOW SQUALLS.
