Lotto Tickets Pay Out Big For Saginaw Residents 1-13-2011

Saginaw was a very lucky place to be this week. Two big prizes were claimed on lotto tickets purchased in Saginaw.
On Tuesday, an anonymous winner won $140,000 on a Red Hot Valentine instant ticket.
The anonymous winner said she planned to help her family as much as she could. The ticket was bought at Trogans Party Store, 2328 S. Michigan Ave., in Saginaw.
Ken Taylor, of Saginaw, traveled to Lansing on Thursday to claim at $250,000 prize on a Mega Millions ticket from the Nov. 26, 2010 drawing. Taylor, who frequently plays the Mega Millions, wants to remodel his home with some of his prize winnings.
Taylor’s winning easy-pick ticket was sold at Meijer Gas Station, 3360 Tittabawassee Rd., in Saginaw.
The Michigan Lottery said over 94 cents of every dollar spent on lotto tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers.
In fiscal year 2010, the contribution to schools was $701.3 million, or about 10 percent of the total state school budget. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
