Second 'Detergent Suicide' Occurs In Michigan 1-14-2011

A new dangerous trend from Japan has come to American shores.
Michigan saw its second detergent suicide, and it happened not far from Mid-Michigan.
While it’s generally not TV5 policy to cover suicides, this particular type puts both the public and first responders in danger.
A car full of a deadly chemical gas was found just south of Baldwin, in Lake County, and created a dangerous situation for anyone that needed to get inside.
A person mixed bleach with with other household chemicals, which resulted in an inhalable mixture that turned the vehicle into a gas chamber.
Any paramedic or firefighter attempting to gain access to the vehicle can be hit with a wave of dangerous, potentially lethal chemicals.
"Detergent deaths" have been linked to more than 1,000 deaths in Japan.
This incident was just the 38th here in the United States.
