Unity March, Annual Luncheon Held On MLK Day 1-17-2011

Saginaw County leaders and residents are taking part in a Martin Luther King Jr. unity march Monday honoring the slain civil rights leader.
The march begin at 10:15 a.m. at Saginaw Arts and Sciences Academy, 1903 N. Niagara and end at The Dow Event Center, 303 Johnson.
Following the march, The Dow Event Center hosted the 15th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Luncheon. Speakers for the event are Elder Christopher Pryor, pastor of Victorious Believers Ministries in Buena Vista Township and Dr. Pamela Ross-McClain, director of K-8, Saginaw School District.
Congress established the holiday on the third Monday of each January to remember King, was born Jan. 15, 1929. It was first celebrated in 1986.
King was shot to death in 1968 on a motel balcony in Memphis, Tenn.
