Motor Trend Presents Flint Top Truck Award 1-19-2011

Motor Trend presented its 2011 Truck of the Year Award to the Flint Assembly and the United Auto Workers Local 598 team Wednesday.
The award recognizes the Chevy Silverado HD as the auto industry’s best.
The magazine's editor in chief and representatives from General Motors as well as the UAW were on hand.
During the ceremony officials also highlighted the Chevy Volt, which won the Motor Trend Car of the Year Award.
The two-door and four-door Silverado HDs and the Volt’s engine are built in Flint.
UAW Local 598 Shop Chairman Dana Rouse said both award are further proof that General Motors is well on the road to recovery.
“It was a challenge given to us during the bankruptcy,” Rouse said. “This is not only a testimony to GM and UAW coming back – it’s a testimony for Flint coming back.”
The Silverado also won the award in 2001.
