Interested In A Volt? Take A Test Drive With TV5 1-20-2011

The long-awaited Chevy Volt has arrived in Mid-Michigan auto showrooms.
McDonald Chevrolet in Millington let TV5’s Brian Wood take their first one out for a spin on Thursday.
The first thing Wood noticed about the car GM’s been teasing us about for three years is the lack of a key to start it. The car comes with push-button start-up and once it’s on, two dashboard screens light up with information about the car.
When the vehicle is put into reverse, a bumper camera lets the driver see what’s behind the car, and another screen shows just how far you can go on either electric power or gasoline.
“One thing that really surprised me about the Volt is that, because this is an electric car, I thought it was going to be sluggish, but when you step on the gas, you go!” said Wood. “Right now we are getting 93 miles a gallon.”
McDonald Chevrolet won't be selling its two Volts. Instead, they’ll be keeping them on hand to give people a chance to go for a test drive, to check out the features and place preorders for when Volt becomes available in March.
