Deputies Say Deer May Have Caused Fatal Crash 1-21-2011

The Lapeer County Sheriff's office is investigating a deadly crash that occurred Thursday morning in Marathon Township.
It happened just before 7 a.m. on Marathon Road north of Barnes Lake Road.
The victim 20-year-old Jordan Thompson, of Otter Lake, was alert when first responders got the scene. He told deputies he was traveling south on Marathon when he lost control of his pickup truck after swerving to avoid hitting a deer.
According to a news release, his vehicle left the road and overturned multiple times before coming to rest in a field.
Deputies said he was transported to Lapeer Regional Medical Center, where he underwent emergency surgery and died a few hours later.
Neither speed nor alcohol is believed to be factors in the crash.
