U Of M-Flint Campus To Go Smoke-Free July 1 1-24-2011

The University of Michigan has released details of its plans to implement the school's smoke-free policy that goes into effect July 1.
The Ann Arbor-based school announced Monday that President Mary Sue Coleman has approved a final report on the policy. The plan was crafted after more than a year of input.
The report includes recommendations that define campus smoke-free boundaries.
The new policy includes facilities, sidewalks next to U of M buildings, all parking structures and surface parking lots.
It also spells out plans for helping smokers quit if they want assistance.
Smoking will be banned at all school facilities, buildings and grounds at the school's Ann Arbor, Dearborn and Flint campuses.
Smoking will be allowed on sidewalks adjacent to public thoroughfares.
Plans for the ban were announced in 2009. The school said it will be enforced by voluntary compliance, along with peer and supervisory support, rather than fines.
