Carjacker Takes Plea In Unarmed Robbery Case 1-27-2011

A 21-year-old man has made a deal with prosecutors in Saginaw County.
According to the Saginaw News, Christopher Collins pleaded no contest to unlawful imprisonment and guilty to unarmed robbery on Monday.
The plea comes two years after a 78-year-old Mount Pleasant woman said she asked him for directions to the county jail, and a short time later she came out to find him inside her car.
Collins, who was 19 at the time, was arrested by authorities on Dec. 25, 2009, and jailed while investigators worked to examine the assault case.
Lacking further evidence, Collins was released on Dec. 27.
Collins had just been released from the Saginaw County Jail after being charged with assault, when police said he carjacked the woman and stole her purse.
In exchange for the plea, prosecutors will drop a charge of carjacking.
Collins is expected to be sentenced next month.
