Tortured DogÂ?s Owners Raise Funds For Surgeries 2-09-2011

TV5 has learned at least $1,600 has been raised to help Daisy, a young boxer puppy.
She was found tied to a tree in Genesee Township starving, and suffering from a broken leg.
Daisy's new owner, Mary Schaap, said her leg was broken so badly that it could twist completely around and that the dog was so starved that every bone in her body was visible.
But now Schaap said Daisy needs another surgery to repair more of those injuries. The pair that took her in is asking for help raising the funds.

Schaap said in an e-mail to TV5 that if police can find the person responsible for leaving the dog, they could be charged with felony animal abuse.
“We want this story to get out to show what animal abuse looks like and try to keep other animals safe,” said Schaap. “This dog is such a sweet dog, even after everything she’s been through.”
Schaap said that if anyone would like to donate directly to the vet, the address is Westwood Veterinary Hospital, 4123 W. Coldwater Road, Flint, MI 48504. Put “Daisy” on the memo line. Their phone number is 810-785-2211 and they will also take donations over the phone.
