Township May Use Solar To Power Facilities 2-11-2011

The largest municipal solar project in the state could be built right here in Mid-Michigan.
Tittabawassee Township is working on a plan to use solar panels at three of its facilities, including the Freeland Sports Zone and the waste water treatment plant.
It could save the township up to $170,000 in energy costs over a 20 year contract, and generate electricity that could be sold to Consumers Energy for about $10,000 per year.
The $4 million program would be financed by outside investors.
