As Snow Melts, Potholes Spring Up -- Everywhere 2-14-2011

The weather warm-up Mid-Michigan had this weekend was just enough to clear the roads and uncover potholes of all shapes and sizes.
Maria Espinoza said she hit a big pothole on State Street in Saginaw Township and it popped the front tire on her son's Malibu, bending the rim.
Because it happened on a state road, she tried to get the state of Michigan to pay for her damages, but she was denied.
To make sure their roads don't get into that kind of shape, the city of Saginaw on Monday was taking advantage of the mild weather to patch city streets.

In Saginaw, it's first-come, first-serve. That is, if you live in the city and you have a pothole in your neighborhood, officials say call City Hall at 989-759-1400 to get it fixed.
Espinoza, she said she knows it isn't even the pothole season yet, but she's already had enough rough roads to last her for the rest of the year.
