Documentary On Flint Karate Farmers To Screen 2-21-2011

A documentary that features the work of two black belts who've paired karate and urban farming in a push to revitalize a Flint-area neighborhood is scheduled to be screened in East Lansing.
Michigan State University filmmakers Geri Alumit Zeldes and Troy Hale worked with students on the 30-minute film "The Kings of Flint." It's being shown at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the school's Communication Arts & Sciences building.
It's scheduled to make its public television debut Feb. 28 at 10 p.m. on WKAR-TV.
Jacky King runs a karate school and farm with his wife, Dora.
The film earlier was shown in the Flint area. Zeldes and Hale began the project in 2009. They plan to expand the documentary into a full, one-hour version this year.
