Bay City School Bus Slides Into Ditch, No Injuries 2-22-2011

No one was hurt when a Bay City School District bus ended up in a ditch Tuesday morning.
Authorities said the bus slid into the ditch on Fraser Road just south of Parish in Bay County at about 7:45 a.m.
Two Western Middle School students were riding the bus when the accident occurred.
"I got a call from my daughter a couple minutes after it happened," said Karen Osterhout. "She said they were going to turn a corner and there was a huge snow drift. They slid right in."
A tow truck responded and pulled the bus out of the ditch. The two students were taken to school on a second bus.
No one needed medical attention.
Osterhout told WNEM TV5 she believes the district should have canceled school on Tuesday.
"My road is not plowed and out in the country the snow drifts are horrendous," she said.
Superintendent Douglas Newcombe said the district is at least one school-day over the limit allotted by the state after classes were canceled on Monday.
More than 100 cancellations or delays were called into the TV5 Newsroom Tuesday. To see the complete list click here.
