Car Collides With Train In Saginaw Township 2-22-2011

Police were called to the scene of a train-car collision in Saginaw Township Tuesday.
It occurred just before 11 a.m. at Mackinaw and Shattuck Roads, Saginaw County Central Dispatch reported.
Authorities reopened the intersection just after 12:30 p.m.
The driver, a student from Saginaw Valley State University, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Police said the student drover her car into the train engine, then spun out before coming to a stop in a ditch just a few feet from the tracks.
TV5 reporter Liz Gelardi was at the scene and said the road leading up to the crossing was very slick. Police said that could be a factor in the crash.
There are no gates at the crossing, but police said the lights were flashing.
