Hit-And-Run Driver Knocks Out Power To Village 2-25-2011

The entire village of Deckerville was without power Friday morning after a hit-and-run driver rammed into a utility pole.
The Sanilac County sheriff’s office said it happened just after 1:30 a.m. at the corner of Black River Street and Lucha Street.
Deputies said a large red pickup truck, possibly with a snow plow or heavy duty bumper, veered off the roadway and struck the pole. The collision was server enough to cause the pole to break in the middle, but remain standing, according to deputies.
The incident caused the entire village of Deckerville to lose electrical power including the Deckerville hospital.
Officials said power was restored by 5:30 a.m.
There were no reported injuries.
The Sheriff’s Department is asking for help in locating the individual responsible for the damage. Anyone with information is asked to contact the office at 810-648-2000.
