2 Bay City Women Dead After M-20 Car Crash 2-27-2011

Two 20-year-old women died after a car crash shut down Michigan Highway 20 for several hours Saturday in Midland County's Homer Township.
The victims have been identified as Danette DeCorte and Emilee Prime, both of Bay City, and former high school standouts for Bay City Central.
Snow covered M-20 was closed in both directions from 5 Mile to Homer Road for more than four hours while investigators processed the scene.
"A car hit another car, it happened all in front of me," said Justin Lyons, a witness.
Lyons works for Soaring Eagle Casino and said he was heading home toward Saginaw when he witnessed the wreck just after 10:30 p.m.
"One car hit another and pinned the girl(s) in," said Lyons.
Firefighters and sheriff deputies worked to clear the scene and when the highway was finally reopened, debris from the wreck still stretched along the highway.
A team of crisis counselors are expected to be at Bay City Central Monday to help students and faculty members deal with the loss.
After graduating in 2009, DeCorte began taking classes at SVSU while serving as freshman volleyball coach at Central. Prime was reportedly taking classes at Delta College and previously helped out with the girls basketball team at Central.
Michigan State Police are investigating the crash. No further information has been released.
