Gratiot Hospital Name Change Goes Into Effect 3-01-2011

Gratiot Medical Center is now called MidMichigan Medical Center–Gratiot.
Officials said the name change, that took effect Tuesday, will heighten community awareness about Gratiot Medical Center's affiliation with MidMichigan Health.
"We feel that this new name best reflects that we are an integral part of MidMichigan Health," said Mark Bush, president and CEO of MidMichigan Medical Center-Gratiot. "Moving ahead with a single brand identity will make it easier for patients to identify any MidMichigan affiliate, service or health care resource.”
The Medical Center began its partnership with MidMichigan Health in 2000, when it joined MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland in forming MidMichigan Gratiot Cancer Center in Alma.
The partnership helped pave the way for the Medical Center to become a full MidMichigan Health affiliate in 2005.
Since the affiliation, the Medical Center completed a $56 million construction project, which added 182,888 square feet of space, including a state-of-the-art emergency department and a new four-story patient care tower.
