Deputies Still Searching For Missing Track Coach 3-02-2011

It's been more than three weeks since a beloved Mid-Michigan coach went missing, and right now the search for Bob Cole is still ongoing.
Cole, 62, was last seen Feb. 8 while searching for his daughter’s dog.
TV5’s Liz Gelardi visited with the searchers north of Midland on Wednesday.
“We would like to bring closure to the family,” said Capt. Mike Goodall, with the Midland County Sheriff’s department.
Neighbors Gelardi spoke with are still wondering what happened to the Meridian High School track coach.

“We always stop and ask state police if they've found them yet, or anything, and no good news,” said neighbor John Musselman.
Sheriff’s deputies said Cole was last seen searching for a yellow Lab near Curtis Road and M-30, along the Tittabawassee River.
Shortly after he went missing, the sheriff said they discovered a trail of footprints leading to the ice.
“We're doing kind of a grid search,” said Goodall. “There's a lot of debris fields and things like that, so we're using some underwater cameras.”
Crews are using three cameras to comb the water, and they're able to cover an area about ten feet wide, a time-consuming process.
“We've had quite a few volunteers on the shores to maneuver the boat back and forth because it has to be done manually,” said Goodall. “Today I think we have 10 volunteers.”
Cole had been a teacher in the Meridian High School district since 1970 and even though he retired two years ago, he was still a track coach at the school.
“Lots of people, lots of people to try to help, but what do you do?” asked Musselman.
The Sheriff’s department said volunteers have made the ongoing search possible.
They started using the underwater cameras last week and there’s no word yet on when they'll stop.
