One Of Two M-20 Crash Victims Laid To Rest 3-03-2011

Friend and family gathered in Bay City Thursday to pay their final respects to a 19-year-old woman killed in traffic crash last Saturday.

The funeral for Danette DeCorte was held at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 1503 Kosciuszko Ave. More than 400 people were in attendance, many of them had written messages to DeCorte on her casket.
DeCorte and Emilee Prime, 19, died in a two-car crash on M-20 near Five Mile Road in Midland County’s Homer Township around 10:30 p.m. Police said Prime lost control of the Ford Focus she was driving and collided with an eastbound Chevrolet SUV.
Both women were graduates of Bay City Central High School in 2009 and standout student athletes.
DeCorte was a three-year varsity basketball player and a four-year varsity volleyball player. After graduating, DeCorte began taking classes at Saginaw Valley State University to study pre-law while serving as freshman volleyball coach at Central.
Visitation for Prime is Thursday from 2-8 p.m. at Trahan Funeral Chapel. 256 N. Madison Ave. Prime's funeral is Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Norbert Church, 126 W. Munger Road.
