Midland Police Officer Charged In Sex Assault 3-04-2011

A Midland Police Department officer was charged Friday with four felonies, including two sex crimes.
Midland County Prosecutor Michael D. Carpenter said Jeffrey Doyle is facing one count of extortion, third-degree criminal sexual conduct, fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of obstruction of justice.
Doyle, 39, has been with the Midland Police Department for 18 years.
Carpenter did not comment on specifics but said the victim is a woman.
"The investigation was done thoroughly, professionally, it was amazing," Carpenter said. "When this gets to trial, we're able to comment specifically about those things."
Doyle has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the criminal investigation. He was arrested Friday morning and arraigned on the charges in Midland County District Court.
TV5 obtained a copy of the felony complaint. It alleges that, on Feb. 15, Doyle forced a woman to perform a sex act. It also alleges that Doyle had reason to know the victim was physically helpless, mentally incapacitated or mentally incapable.
He remains in the Midland County Jail on a $400,000 cash bond and faces up to 42 years in prison if convicted of all charges.
