According to a news release, Anastasia Bader of Columbiaville died and four others were injured, including her 14-year-old sister in the morning accident that involved three vehicles in Mayfield Township
Deputies said Anastasia,16, was driving a 1995 Oldsmobile with her sister Alysia, 14, just before 7 a.m. when she lost control of her car on icy roads while trying to avoid two deer, striking a small tree.
The Bader sisters got out the car. A another vehicle driven by a 17-year-old Columbiaville girl then came over the same hill and struck Anastasia.
Right after the collision, a third vehicle became involved, sliding into Anastasia's car.
The 17-year-old driver of the second car, two occupants of the third car and Alysia were all transported to Lapeer Regional Medical Center.
Investigators say weather likely contributed to the crashes, with rain and below-freezing temperatures.
