As Police Approached, Suspect Takes Own Life 3-09-2011

On Wednesday, Flint Township police asked for the public’s help to track down a man suspected of killing his father. Now authorities say that man -- Thomas Rothley -- has taken his own life.
Joseph Michael Rothley, 47, was found dead Wednesday morning on Wickfield Drive in Flint Township.
During the course of their investigation, police said they found 23-year-old Thomas Logan Rothley, Joseph Rothley's son, parked near a Walmart store in Grand Blanc Township.
As officers approached Thomas Rothley's vehicle around 4 p.m., Flint Township Police Chief George Sippert said he took his own life.
Earlier Wednesday, police issued a warning that Rothley was armed and dangerous.
Sippert said authorities will continue to investigate the incident.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Detective James Santa at 810-600-3250 or call 911.
