M-84, I-75 Road Work To Resume, MDOT Says 3-14-2011

The Michigan Department to Transportation will resume road and bridge reconstruction work along M-84 and I-75 in Saginaw and Bay counties Monday.
This final phase of the two-year project, which began last March, is expected to be completed by November.
Work on I-75 includes reconstructing southbound lanes; last year's work involved reconstructing northbound lanes. Crews will begin work with intermittent lane closures in effect during the first two weeks.
A traffic shift to move two southbound lanes to the northbound side of the highway will follow. Following the traffic shift, one southbound lane will be maintained on the southbound area.
Three northbound lanes and two southbound lanes will remain open on the northbound area through Memorial Day, with an intermittent single-lane closure in effect on southbound I-75.
Work on M-84 will start where crews wrapped up last year, at Hotchkiss Road, with roadwork heading north to Euclid Avenue.
Work will be completed in one direction at a time, starting on northbound lanes.
Motorists traveling on northbound M-84 will be rerouted to East Hotchkiss Road, where they will take South Euclid Road north to the intersection of M-84/M-13, to resume travel on M-84.
Southbound M-84 traffic will remain in place until crews switch the direction of roadwork in the summer.
Overall, I-75 improvements begin just north of Crane Road and continue north to Hotchkiss Road through Kochville, Frankenlust and Monitor townships in Saginaw and Bay counties. I-75 work includes concrete reconstruction, constructing a median enclosure with concrete barrier wall to allow for drainage work, safety and ramp improvements, bridge work over Squaconning Creek, culvert replacement over Goetz Drain, and M-84 bridge replacements over I-75.
M-84 improvements begin just south of Delta Road and extend north to M-13 (Euclid Avenue) through Frankenlust and Monitor townships in Bay County. Work on M-84 includes pavement and utility work, widening and resurfacing, sign and signal upgrades, culvert replacements at the Columbia Drain and Dutch Creek, bridge replacement work over I-75, and a bridge replacement over Squaconning Creek.
