Bay City Looking To Hire On-Call Firefighters 3-14-2011

Bay City officials are recruiting interested residents to become paid on-call firefighters.
Paid on-call firefighters are responsible for responding to large-scale incidents and weekly training, officials said.
Within the first year, applicants must attend a training academy and pass the Michigan Firefighter II and Hazmat Operations tests.
All applicants must be older than 18, have a high school diploma or GED, possess a valid Michigan driver’s license, own a reliable vehicle, ability to read and write English, good moral character, have no felony convictions or disqualifying criminal record and must be in acceptable physical condition.
Applications are available at Central Fire Station, 1401 Center Avenue, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. and must be submitted by April 5.
All candidates must also be able to attend the orientation scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. and the Central Fire Station.
