Trial To Start In Woman's Pink Diamond Dispute 3-16-2011

A substitute teacher from Saginaw is turning herself into a trial lawyer as she takes a jewelry store to court over a diamond ring.
Victoria Harris is representing herself in a lawsuit against J.B. Robinson Jewelers. She says a valuable pink diamond was replaced with a cheaper stone when she had her wedding ring cleaned and enlarged at a Saginaw store in 2002.
The trial is to start Wednesday in federal court in Bay City. J.B. Robinson denies any theft but offered to settle the case for $3,000. Harris declined.
The lawsuit was dismissed in 2009, but Harris persuaded an appeals court to reinstate it.
