Verdict Returned In Midland Home Invasion Trial 3-16-2011

MIDLAND, Mich.The trial for a man who police said broke into his neighbor’s home 10 times over a four-month period came to an end Wednesday afternoon.
Paul Rivard was found guilty of second-degree home invasion and larceny following a two-day trial in Midland.
Rivard, 36, was accused of planting a baby monitor in the bedroom of his neighbor’s home to eavesdrop on them. Authorities said he also rearranged items in their home and torched their clothes.
Rivard was not found guilty on eavesdropping charges.
The woman’s husband testified on Tuesday that he got into a fight with Rivard and witnessed him harass his wife.
This incident was not Rivard’s first home invasion.
State prison records show the 36-year-old was paroled in late 2008 after serving 10 years for second-degree home invasion.
A sentencing date was not released, but typically occur within three weeks of a verdict.
