Coast Guard Rescues 12 Stranded On Bay Ice 3-18-2011

The U.S. Coast Guard has rescued a total of 12 people from a floating section of ice on Saginaw Bay.
Around 8 p.m. Thursday, emergency crews were called to save six people stranded one mile off shore near the Bay-Arenac county line.
At the same time, crews rescued another person off the ice at Killarney Beach.
At 9:30 p.m., rescuers brought five people to shore who were fishing at the Linwood Beach marina.
Coast Guard officials later issued a warning that recent rising temperatures have made ice on the bay unstable and extremely dangerous.
There are no major injuries to report at this hour, but several people were treated for hypothermia.
