Trial To Begin In Vassar Embezzlement Case 3-21-2011

The trial for a former deputy clerk accused of embezzling money from the city of Vassar is expected to begin Tuesday.
Tuscola County prosecutors say Nicole Licavoli skimmed more than $23,000 from the city's water and sewer department between 2008 and 2009.
Licavoli was placed on administrative leave in December 2009 after a routine audit revealed several discrepancies in the water and sewer funds starting in July 2008. She has since been fired.
According to the Tuscola Today newspaper, Licavoli's trial has been postponed four times since charges were first filed in January 2010.
She's facing 21 counts of embezzlement. If convicted, she could face up to 10 years in prison.
