Fatal Flint Shooting May Have Been Self-Defense 3-21-2011

Flint police are investigating a fourth homicide within the last 24 hours.
A local market owner took justice into his own hands when police said two men tried to rob his business. Right now residents in Flint say there's just not enough police to protect them.
“With the way the city of Flint is, we all have to start getting guns,” said Jules Market owner Cheryl Joubran. “My son just got his gun and he said, ‘I hope I never have to use it.’”
But Joubran’s son did use a gun. Flint police told TV5 two people came in the door on a mission to rob Jules Market, but Edmund Joubran, who works at his parents' business, fired before the robbers could.
"One guy came around the corner and showed my son his gun,” said Joubran. "As he's handing him the money, he pulls out his gun and shot him. Its hard on him because he shot someone.”
Police said one of the two robbers struck by the bullets died on his way to the hospital. Police said the other robber is wounded and still on the run.
This isn't the first time a shooting has happened in the area. A worker inside the store next to the Jules Market also shot an armed robber. Some residents in the community say it may be time to arm themselves.
"This has never happened; we never had a problem like this," said Jourbran. In business for nearly 40 years, Jourbran said the city of Flint has changed so much, she's not sure what’s next. "This makes you think twice about having a store," said Jourbran.
Joubran also said she is thinking twice about owning a gun, something she never considered until now.
