Postal Workers Protest Plan To Move Operation 3-22-2011

Postal workers in Flint will hold an informational picket to protest changes that could be coming to the city's mail processing and distribution center.
The U.S. Postal Service is considering moving the mail processing center from Flint to Pontiac to cut costs. Officials said more than 100 jobs in Flint would be lost and that the cuts would impact mail delivery times.
"The only way to save the Flint Processing Facility is if the people of Genesee County speak loudly, and in large numbers,” said local union president Curt Walker.
Tuesday’s protest is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Flint Main Processing and Distribution Center on East Boulevard Drive. This is the second protest held in Flint. The group also picketed on March 16.
Earlier this month, the postal service began moving part of its processing operations from Saginaw to Pontiac.
